KAVU was born in Seattle, Washington by founder Barry Barr in 1993. As a career commercial fisherman, Barry has spent his entire life outdoors. With a passion for the outdoors and the desire to create a community of like-minded individuals, Barry set out to create KAVU.
The name KAVU was inspired by an aviation acronym which means “clear above visibility unlimited”. Beginning with a single hat, the strapcap, and growing into a global brand, KAVU has proven that its potential is limitless, and they want their community to believe it too!
